Concert by Americana and folk songwriter Wes Collins, featuring intricate fingerpicking and songwriting.
Wes Collins plays Kojak's on Thursday, November 19, with Scott Dameron joining him on stage. Collins is an Americana and folk songwriter from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and his writing is dense with ideas and carried by intricate fingerpicking.
There's a bit of a story to how he got here. He and his wife, Anita, both turned to songwriting later in life, at 44, and both have since become multi-award winners. Since then, he's played across the country, from the Kerrville Folk Festival to Nashville's Blue Bird Cafe. He won the Grassy Hills New Folk Competition and a North Carolina Arts Council Songwriting Fellowship, and he was named a finalist in The Telluride Troubadour Contest.
His third album, Jabberwockies, was recorded at Hollow Reed Arts Studio in Asheville, North Carolina, with contributions from Ordinary Elephant and Jaimee Harris. That record sits alongside the songs he'll be bringing to the Houston stage.
