Concert by Tituss Burgess presented by The Hobby Center as part of its Beyond Broadway series, featuring musical theatre hits and popular songs.
Tituss Burgess is playing The Hobby Center on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, as part of the venue's Beyond Broadway series. If you've seen him on screen or on stage, you know the voice—big, versatile, and right at home in a theater. This is a concert, not a play, so he's the only one on the bill.
The setlist is a bit of a tour through his tastes. He's pulling from classic and modern musical theater hits, but he's stepping outside that world too, with songs by John Mayer, Shirley Bassey, and Bette Midler, plus music from Porgy & Bess. It's a wide range of styles to cover in one night, and since he's the one singing all of them, you get to hear how he handles each one.
Burgess has worked across television, film, and stage, and he's probably best known for The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Schmigadoon. On Broadway, he's been in Oh, Mary!, Moulin Rouge!, Guys and Dolls, The Little Mermaid, and Jersey Boys. That's a lot of different roles and a lot of different sounds, which explains why the setlist for this concert jumps around as much as it does.
