10th anniversary party with free entry, Y2K DJ and dance, comedy, music and drink specials all night.
The Secret Group is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Saturday, October 10, with a full day of comedy, music, and dance. The party runs all night, and the main entry is free.
For the anniversary, the venue is leaning into the variety it's known for. There's a Y2K DJ and dance floor, and comedy and music running throughout the night. Alongside that, drink specials will be going all evening. It's a long one, so you can drop in for a drink and a set or hang out for the whole stretch.
There's also a specific show on the bill: Kam Franklin performs House of The Neon Sun, which is a free show. Separately, Franklin is doing a release for the album Land of The Neon Sun, and that one is ticketed. If you're a fan of Franklin's work, you can catch both in one night.

To get a sense of the place, The Secret Group is an independent comedy venue and bar in EaDo, on the corner of Polk and St. Emanuel. It's often called the engine room of Houston's alternative comedy scene, and it runs two stages under one roof: the main showroom and a smaller room called The Box. Stand-up happens almost every night of the week, with more open mics than anywhere else in town. A typical week brings together open mics, weekly series like $2 Bill and Master Debaters, late-night dirty shows, headliner showcases, and touring alt-comedy and podcast acts. It sits apart from the city's big clubs, which charge higher prices and carry drink minimums; the venue has no kitchen but allows outside food, and it books music, karaoke, and other non-comedy nights alongside the comedy.
Doors open at 5 PM. Main entry is free, and drink specials run all night.
