Blues-rock band The Mighty Orq live at Goode Company Armadillo Palace, with support from Chris Ardoin.
The Mighty Orq play the Goode Company Armadillo Palace on Friday, October 9, with Chris Ardoin opening the bill. The band is a Texas blues-rock trio fronted by guitarist Mighty Orq, with Tommy Luna on bass and Matt Johnson on drums. They describe their sound as guitar-driven beats and big punches aimed at anyone who likes 70s and 80s rock, so if you've spent any time with that era of guitar music, you'll know exactly where they're coming from.
They've put out four records over the years: the debut Prayer Book, Ghost Train, Milk Money in 2005, and To The Bone in 2008. That's a fair amount of material to draw from for a single set, and since they're a power trio, the guitar stays right at the front of the mix. Chris Ardoin opens the night, so you'll get two acts on the bill rather than just one.
