World-class polo match with player parade, live music, commentary and a halftime Champagne divot stomp.
The Texas Cup returns to the Houston Polo Club on Sunday, October 11, at 4 PM. It's the club's signature match, played on its home fieldโ26 landscaped and wooded acres tucked behind Memorial Park. The club itself dates back to 1928 and is dedicated to polo and equestrian activities, so this is the big one on their calendar.
While the polo is the center of the day, the event is built around a few social traditions that make it more of a full afternoon than just a match. There's a player parade and live music throughout, and expert commentary helps you follow the action on the field if you're not already familiar with how polo works. There's also a best Texas-dressed contest with prizes, so it's a good excuse to lean into the theme. At halftime, the crowd heads onto the field for the Champagne divot stomp, where you help stomp the displaced turf back into place while sipping bubbles.
If you're planning to eat on-site, the club's concession, The Lymbar, serves a menu created by Chef David Cordรบa. Between the food, the music, and the contest, there's plenty to do around the match itself.
