Houston Ballet's acclaimed production of the world's most beloved ballet, featuring Stanton Welch's choreography and Tchaikovsky's iconic score.
Houston Ballet brings Swan Lake to the Brown Theater at the Wortham Theater Center from June 10 to June 27, 2027. It's one of the big anchors of their 2026-2027 season, and if you've never seen it, it's a good place to start with ballet.
The story is the one you probably already know: Odette is a maiden turned into a swan by an evil knight, and a prince falls for her and swears his love. It's a classic for a reason, and this production builds on the two things that make it workโexpansive choreography and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's score. The music is the kind of thing you recognize even if you've never seen a ballet in your life.
Behind the scenes, the choreography is by Stanton Welch, and the sets are by Kristian Fredrikson, a New Zealand-Australian designer. The company describes the production as being built on that choreography and Tchaikovsky's score, set against Fredrikson's designs. It's presented as an original production underwritten by Margaret Alkek Williams, and it runs for over two weeks, so you've got plenty of dates to choose from across the middle of June.

If you're planning to go, keep in mind that it's a multi-week run rather than a single night, so you can pick a date that works for you. The performances are at the Brown Theater, part of the Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston. It's a central spot, and since it runs from June 10 through June 27, you've got a good window to catch it.
