An evening of storytelling by Ira Glass, in the style of his show This American Life, at Jones Hall.
Ira Glass is coming to Jones Hall on Saturday, July 10, 2027, for Stories for a Saturday Night, a live evening of storytelling in the style he pioneered on This American Life. If you've ever listened to the show, you know the format: funny stories with feelings, told with a specific kind of pacing and curiosity that's become his signature. This is that same approach brought to the stage.
For context, This American Life is a weekly program heard by more than three million listeners, and it's picked up some of the highest honors in broadcasting along the wayβthree Emmys for its television adaptation, eight Peabody Awards, and the first Pulitzer Prize ever given to a radio show or podcast. For decades, it's been one of the most popular podcasts in the world, and Glass is the voice and the mind behind it. He developed a way of telling radio stories that reshaped audio storytelling and has been widely imitated ever since.
On the night, Glass will be the one on stage, bringing that same storytelling style to a live audience. It's a chance to hear him do in person what he's spent years doing on the air: taking a story and working it until the funny and the heartfelt sit right next to each other. If you're a fan of the show, this is essentially that experience shifted from your headphones to a theater seat.
