A lively, uplifting musical based on the true story of 9/11, presented by the Houston theatre company Stages at The Gordy.
Stages is bringing Come From Away to The Gordy at 800 Rosine St, and it's running through Sunday, October 18. If you've never heard of it, it's a Tony-nominated musical based on a true story from September 11, 2001. When flights were rerouted that day, about 7,000 travelers ended up in Gander, Newfoundland—a tiny town that saw its population double overnight. The show follows how the locals opened their homes to the stranded passengers, and how strangers became friends in the middle of all that uncertainty. It's the kind of story that makes everyday kindness feel like a heroic act, and it's played out with a lively, uplifting energy that took Broadway by storm.
This is the show's Houston-produced debut, staged in the signature style Stages is known for. It's been selling out since it opened, which is why the run has been extended through the 18th. If you're a fan of musical theater, it's a good one to catch while it's still in town.
