Monthly free Latin dance night with salsa and bachata classes, social dancing, and performances by Jocelyn Munoz.
POST Houston hosts another Salsa y Bachata Night on Thursday, October 15, from 7 PM to 10 PM. It's a free monthly Latin dance night that runs on the third Thursday of every month, so if you miss this one, there's usually another one a few weeks later. The whole evening is open to the public, all ages and all dance levels, which makes it a pretty easy one to bring a friend along to.
The night is built around two classes: one for salsa and one for bachata. They run back-to-back, so you get a taste of both styles in a single evening. Once the lessons wrap up, the floor opens for social dancing, where you can put what you just learned into practice. Jocelyn Munoz handles both the instruction and the music, so she's the one leading the classes and keeping the dance floor going through the social half of the night. You can find her online as @SalsaMamihtx.
Since it's held at POST Houston, you're right in the middle of the downtown scene. The event takes place in the Southeast Pod of the X Atrium, and the venue's Food Hall is nearby, serving local and international cuisine if you want to grab a drink or a bite before or after. It's a good spot to hang out and eat while the music is still playing.
