A concert by Pride Chorus Houston celebrating the powerful legacy of Black artists and their influence on American pop music.
Pride Chorus Houston brings Rooted in Rhythm to the Cullen Theater at the Wortham Center on Saturday, February 6, 2027. The concert is built around the legacy of Black artists and their influence on American pop music, and it's the middle show of the chorus's three-concert season.
That season runs from October through June, and Rooted in Rhythm sits between two other distinct programs. The first, Classique! So Chic!, focuses on queer composers, and the second, Love Out Loud, is a collection of pride anthems. Between those two, this one shifts the spotlight to the Black artists who helped shape the sound of American pop music, so if you're following the whole season, it's the one that looks at the roots of the songs we've grown up with.

Because it's the middle of a three-part run, it's a good entry point if you're just starting to track the chorus this year. You've got the queer composers on one end and the pride anthems on the other, with this one holding the center. Tickets start at $28.75, and the show is at the Cullen Theater in the Wortham Center on February 6.
