A guided session combining live music, somatic techniques and mindful listening, led by Kristin Wolfe Jensen, as part of the ROCO Connections series.
Kristin Wolfe Jensen takes the stage at the Asia Society Texas Center on Saturday, April 3, 2027, for Resonance, a guided session that's more of an experience than a standard concert. She'll be performing a world premiere commission by ROCO's composer-in-residence, Jessica Meyer, which pairs the bassoon with Tibetan singing bowls. It's a strange pairing on paper, but that's exactly the kind of thing this series is built for.
Resonance is part of the W.T. & Louise J. Moran Foundation Connections Series presented by ROCO. The series is designed to take audiences into new and unexpected places with site-specific collaborative chamber concerts that turn Houston venues into intimate, immersive musical encounters—and some of them are curated by ROCO musicians themselves. The whole thing was inspired by ROCO cellist Philip Borter's Fulbright research in Brazil, which led him to curate an evening celebrating the country's musical traditions.
Set within the peaceful surroundings of the Asia Society Texas Center, this particular session invites you to slow down, release tension, and explore the connection between movement, body awareness, and sound. It combines the live performance with somatic body-mapping techniques and mindful listening, so you're not just sitting and watching—you're actively working with the sound. The venue itself is a 40,000-square-foot headquarters in Houston's Museum District, designed by Yoshio Taniguchi and opened in 2012; it's the only U.S. Asia Society branch outside New York to have its own building.

There are multiple sessions throughout the day, so you can pick the one that fits your schedule. It's a guided session, not a traditional recital, and it's part of a series that treats the venue as part of the performance. If you're looking for something that asks you to settle in and listen rather than just sit through a set, this is it. The date is Saturday, April 3, 2027, at the Asia Society Texas Center in Houston.
