A chamber music concert featuring Eva Burmeister on violin, Tyler Duncan on baritone and Erika Switzer on piano, performing works by Saint-Saëns and Spohr.
Eva Burmeister takes the stage at the Steinway Selection Center of Houston on Saturday, Dec 5, for a chamber concert that's part of the ROCO Connections series. She's joined by baritone Tyler Duncan and pianist Erika Switzer, and the program is one she curated herself.
On the bill are Camille Saint-Saëns' Violons dans le soir and Louis Spohr's 6 Salonstücke, Op. 135. Burmeister describes the evening as pairing expressive chamber works with the warmth of the human voice, with the music exploring themes of memory, reflection and belonging.
ROCO Connections is part of The W.T. & Louise J. Moran Foundation Connections Series, a cycle of site-specific, collaborative chamber concerts that turn venues across Houston into intimate, immersive musical encounters. Some of the programs are curated by ROCO musicians themselves. The series was inspired by ROCO cellist Philip Borter's Fulbright research in Brazil, which led him to curate an evening celebrating the country's musical traditions; it opened with a concert built around principal tuba Ali Jackson, who took center stage on the largest instrument in the orchestra's brass section.
