A community recycling station where visitors can sort and deposit glass, paper, plastic and aluminium at Discovery Green.
Recycling Saturdays returns to Discovery Green on Saturday, October 17, from 9 AM to 4 PM. It's a straightforward setup: the City of Houston provides a recycling station where you can drop off your sorted glass, paper, plastic, and aluminum. If you've been letting a pile of recyclables build up at home, this is a good day to clear it out.
You'll find the station at the corner of Crawford Street and Lamar Street, along the Andrea and Bill White Promenade. That's the wide granite walkway that cuts right through the park, which the Discovery Green Conservancy uses as a sort of local marketplace for temporary art exhibitions and activities. It's easy to spot once you're inside the park.
Discovery Green is twelve acres of downtown parkland, and the Conservancy puts on more than 500 free events a year across the grounds. They frame it as a natural landscape for play, exploration, and civic engagement, and this is one of those community-focused days. The promenade is the hub for things like this, so you'll be right in the middle of the action.

Just a reminder on how it works: you bring your glass, paper, plastic, and aluminum already sorted, and the City of Houston handles the rest. It's a free event, running from 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, October 17, at the corner of Crawford and Lamar.
