Opening reception for the fall 2026 exhibition Across the Americas at FotoFest, with curator Steven Evans presenting the show.
FotoFest opens its fall 2026 exhibition, Across the Americas, with a reception at FotoFest at Silver Street Studios on Saturday, October 10. Executive director and curator Steven Evans will be there to present the show, which brings together work from the FotoFest Biennial 2026 alongside newly commissioned pieces. The artists on view include Oscar Muñoz, Vik Muniz, Mario Algaze, Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, Helen Zout and Grete Stern.
Across the Americas is a look back at the dialogue FotoFest has built between generations of artists, national histories and photographic traditions over the last four decades, and it continues that long-standing engagement with artists from Latin America and Latino communities in the United States. The show pulls from documentary, conceptual and experimental approaches to history, place, imagination and identity, and it's organized into four thematic chapters: "Image and the Constructed Self," "Memory, Archive, and History," "Place, Territory, and Transformation" and "Experimental Worlds: Concept and Fiction." A prologue introduces visitors to FotoFest's work in those regions.
Beyond the main exhibition, the gallery shows publications and materials from the FotoFest archives, plus a timeline documenting the presentations, partnerships and commissions that have shaped the organization's commitment to artistic exchange across the Americas. It's as much a history of the organization's work in the region as it is a show of the art itself.
