Family-friendly festival with pumpkin painting, meal packing service and fall fun at the Westminster United Methodist Church.
Westminster United Methodist Church is hosting its Pumpkin Patch Festival on Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to noon. It's a family-friendly morning in the heart of the city, and it's free to attend.
Pumpkin painting is the center of the event, so if you're bringing kids, that's where you'll likely spend most of your time. But there's a service element to the morning too: you can help pack meals for hungry children, so the kids get to do something for other kids while they're out. The proceeds from the festival go toward the church's community outreach program.
Westminster is known around here as Houston's "pumpkin church," and for good reason. The church runs a free pumpkin patch that opens on October 11, and this festival is the mid-morning family gathering that grows out of it. It's built for all ages, so it works whether you're coming with a toddler or a whole crew of cousins. The patch is also one of several family activities the church schedules throughout the autumn, including a movie night and an annual Trunk or Treat on Halloween.
