Keynote session on portrait photography by Sony Artisan Miguel Quiles at The Westin at The Woodlands.
Sony Artisan Miguel Quiles headlines the keynote session of Precision Camera University 2026 on Friday, October 9, at The Westin at The Woodlands. The talk, titled Portrait Photography In-Depth, runs from 5 PM to 7 PM and costs $5, open to anyone who wants to attend.
Quiles is a Sony Artisan who's spent the last 15 years refining his approach to portraiture. During the session, he'll share the skills and techniques he's developed over that time to create what he calls "scroll-stopping" images—the kind of shots that make you stop mid-scroll when you're browsing through a feed. If you've ever wondered how a professional builds a portrait from the ground up, this is where he breaks it down.
The keynote is the opening act for the two-day Precision Camera University Woodlands, run by Precision Camera & Video. The weekend that follows, on Saturday and Sunday, takes in four immersive workshops where participants rotate through sessions that combine lecture and hands-on shooting practice. You'll work with live models, professional studio set-ups, and dynamic lighting, so it's more about doing the work than just listening to it. Loaner gear from top brands, a free trade show, and networking are also part of the bill.

If you're not signing up for the full weekend, the keynote still stands on its own as a way to get a look at Quiles' process. It runs from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday, October 9, at The Westin at The Woodlands, 2 Waterway Square Pl, The Woodlands, TX 77380. Admission is $5 and open to anyone.
