Concert by Pecos Hank, the solo project of Hank Schyma, featuring moody Tex-Mex, blues and rockabilly.
Pecos Hank plays McGonigel's Mucky Duck on Saturday, October 24, at 8:30 PM. It's the solo project of Hank Schyma, who was a founding member of the Southern Backtones, the Southwestern rock band known for their voodoo rock. After fifteen years, Schyma stripped away that 'devil may care rock and roll' to pursue a sound he describes as 'what you get when you turn to the dark side of the roots': moody Tex-Mex tunes, blues guitar, vintage surf tones, and rockabilly riffs.
Beyond the music, Schyma is a nature-loving documentarian. His storm footage airs worldwide on BBC Earth, National Geographic, and The Weather Channel, and his lightning captures have appeared in the film The Last Witch Hunter and the Netflix original TAU. He also runs a Pecos Hank YouTube channel, where he pairs cinematic severe-weather coverage with encounters with wild animals and the people he meets while living on the road. That same name, Pecos Hank, is what he uses for this solo work.
