Solo country music set by Houston-based artist Patrick B Ray at Truck Yard.
Patrick B Ray plays a solo set at Truck Yard on Tuesday, October 13. He's a Houston-based country and Americana artist, and this is a solo date, so it'll be just him and his guitar.
Ray's connection to country music goes back to when he was a small child dancing in his mother's living room on Durango Street. A high school friend in Austin gave him a guitar, and he spent his college years roaming through Texas and Arizona, playing with The Chris Brazeal Band and The Texas Treetop Flyers in West Texas, and later with Patch and Rita and the Edgewood Mountain Boys in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He launched his solo career from Houston in 2019 and released the autobiographical album Texas Man on May 13, 2021, anchored by the tracks "King of Houston" and "Texas Man."
His sound pulls from a few different corners of the country tradition: folk, western swing, bluegrass, outlaw country, red dirt, and honky tonk. That range covers a lot of ground, from the slower folk side to the danceable swing and honky tonk, so the set should pull from across the board. Since he's playing solo, it'll be a stripped-back version of those styles.
