Concert by the folk duo Ordinary Elephant at McGonigel's Mucky Duck, featuring their signature harmonies and acoustic instrumentation.
Ordinary Elephant play McGonigel's Mucky Duck on Thursday, November 5, starting at 6 PM. They're a married folk duo, Crystal Hariu-Damore and Pete Damore, based in Lafayette, Louisiana, and they've been touring for more than a decade. Along the way, they've earned the respect of artists like Tom Paxton and Mary Gauthier.
Their record of the last few years gives you a good sense of where they stand. In 2017, they won the International Folk Music Award for Artist of the Year on the strength of Before I Go. Two years later, they released Honest, which the Associated Press called one of the best Americana albums of the year. Their latest, a self-titled album, earned an IFMA Album of the Year nomination and is described as the purest distillation of their sound, driven by the couple's harmonies and their fretwork on banjo, guitar and octave mandolin.
