Exhibition of photography capturing wildlife in Houston's urban neighbourhoods, exploring themes of resilience and adaptation.
Once Upon a Time is showing at Throughline Collective, 3909 Main St, from September 26 through November 16. It's a photography exhibition that looks at wildlife in Houston's urban neighborhoods, and it's open to all ages, so you can bring the kids along.
The photos focus on the animals that live right here in the city, and the project is built around the tension, resilience, and abrupt endings they face as they struggle to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. It's a look at the wildlife that shares our streets and backyards, and the way they hold onโor don'tโas the city grows around them. The title, Once Upon a Time, points toward the stories these animals carry and the ways their presence in the city can be fleeting.

Throughline Collective is presenting the show in the Midtown Cultural Arts and Entertainment District, so it's easy to get to if you're already around that part of town. The exhibition runs for about seven weeks, which gives you plenty of time to drop in whenever you're nearby rather than rushing to see it on a single weekend. Entry is free, and since it's open to all ages, it works as a quick stop on a Saturday morning or a longer look with the family. You'll find it at 3909 Main St, in the heart of Midtown.
