Concert featuring the synth-pop band Night Drive with support from The Black Angels at White Oak Music Hall.
Night Drive play White Oak Music Hall on Thursday, December 3, with The Black Angels joining the bill. It's an all-ages, general admission night in the Downstairs room at 2915 N Main St, so you'll be on your feet for the whole thing. Doors open at 7 PM.
Night Drive is an Austin group whose sound sits in the glossy, echoed territory of synth-pop. They build their songs around shadowed textures and reflective lyrics, but there's a driving beat and a soaring hook behind the mood. If you're trying to place them, the comparisons usually land on Interpol and Lower Dens—that same blend of dark, atmospheric synth work and a strong melodic line that keeps things from drifting too far into the background. The band is led by Rodney Connell, with Nick Dudek and Brandon Duhon in the lineup.
They've spent a good deal of time on the road, touring with Crystal Castles, CHVRCHES, Ladytron, ACTORS, and The Black Angels, and their music has found its way into film, television, and radio worldwide. This show pairs them with The Black Angels, who have shared stages with them before, so it's a familiar pairing. Between the two, you've got Night Drive's synth-pop and The Black Angels' psychedelic rock on the same bill.
