Live band performing music synced to original MTV music videos, hosted by original MTV VJs Mark Goodman and Alan Hunter.
Neon Nostalgic comes to Miller Outdoor Theatre on Friday, October 16, at 7:30 PM. It's a live band performing music synced in real time to original music videos, with original MTV VJs Mark Goodman and Alan Hunter hosting the night. The show runs about two hours.
What sets this apart from a standard cover band is the synchronization: the band plays live while the original music videos run on screen, timed to match every moment of the performance. It pairs live music with the imagery of the era, and the set revisits the artists who ruled bedroom walls and Walkman playlists—The Cure, Prince, Simple Minds, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Bon Jovi, U2, and INXS. Goodman and Hunter, who were there when MTV first launched, spend the night sharing inside stories and memories from the 1980s. The show has toured across North America and around the globe, and the band bills itself as the only live act that syncs every moment of its performance in real time with the original videos.
If you can't make it in person, the show is livestreamed on the theatre's website, YouTube, and Facebook. Seating is open on the hill, and it goes on rain or shine.
