An unhinged comedy debate show hosted by Blythe Payne and Quinn Doran, where local comedians debate ridiculous topics with audience participation.
Master Debaters is back at The Secret Group this Wednesday, October 14, from 10 PM to 11:30 PM. It's an unhinged comedy debate show hosted by Blythe Payne and Quinn Doran, and it's become a weekly fixture at the venue in Houston's East End.
The format is pretty straightforward: local comedians go head-to-head in an unfiltered debate over the hottest and most ridiculous topics of the moment. There's a new theme every week, and audience participation folds in the room, so you're not just watching from the sidelines. It's less about winning an argument and more about how far the comedians will take a premise for a laugh.
Payne and Doran run the whole thing, keeping the energy moving and the debates on track—or steering them off it when that's the funnier move. Because it's a weekly show, it's one of those things you can drop into on a random Wednesday night without needing to have caught the previous week to get the joke. If you've already been, you know the drill: two comics, one ridiculous topic, and a room full of people watching it all go off the rails.

Tickets are $8.82, and the show runs from 10 PM to 11:30 PM at The Secret Group, 2101 Polk St. in EaDo. Since it's a Wednesday night, it's an easy mid-week outing if you're in the neighborhood.
