A live concert performance of the film Black Panther, featuring Ludwig Göransson's Oscar-winning score performed by a full orchestra beneath the screen.
Marvel Studios' Black Panther in Concert comes to Sarofim Hall at the Hobby Center on Monday, February 15, 2027. It's a live-to-picture screening: Ryan Coogler's complete film plays on the big screen while Ludwig Göransson's Oscar- and Grammy-winning score is performed live by a full orchestra right beneath it. The score is built on West African drum and voice woven into orchestral writing, and it's often cited as half the reason the film became what it became. In a theater, it's something you hear; here, it moves to the front of the room.
The story follows T'Challa, who, after his father's death, prepares to be crowned king of Wakanda but is challenged by the return of his old enemy, Killmonger. He teams with the Dora Milaje, his sister Shuri, and CIA ally Everett K. Ross to harness the powers of the Black Panther. The performance runs about 2 hours 35 minutes with one intermission, and it's rated PG-13.
