An evening of community and creativity where adults can explore orchestral instruments through ROCO's Instrument Petting Zoo, paired with wine and festive vibes.
ROCO is bringing Make a Joyful Noise! back to Padre's Wine Bar on Thursday, December 10, at 6:30 PM. It's a return by popular demand, and the whole night is built around their Instrument Petting Zoo for adults.
If you've never heard the term, a petting zoo is exactly what it sounds like: a room full of instruments you can actually touch and try out. This one is led by ROCO musicians and aimed at beginners and enthusiasts alike, so you don't need to know a thing about reading music to get involved. You spend the evening sipping wine and mingling, and when you're ready, you pick up an instrument and see how it works. It's a hands-on way to explore your musical side in a relaxed, no-pressure setting.
They'll have instruments from all four orchestral families on hand: winds, brass, strings, and percussion. You can move from one to the other throughout the night, and there's even a gong you can strike—which, if you're curious about the terminology, is actually a tam-tam. The ROCO musicians are there to guide you through it all, so you're not just guessing at what you're doing.
