The Leslie Waugh Band performs original Houston-made Americana music, blending folk, alt-country and honky-tonk influences.
Leslie Waugh plays Under the Volcano on Wednesday, October 7, as part of the venue's Wednesday live music series. She'll be performing with her band, and the set is billed as original Houston-made Americana, pulling from folk, alt-country, and a dash of honky-tonk.
Waugh is a Houston troubadour who made a bit of history as the first woman to take home both Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year in the same year from the Houston Songwriter Association. Her debut, The White Cat Sessions, set the stage for what came next: the critically acclaimed album on.ward, which she co-produced with Lloyd Maines and Terri Hendrix. From there, she worked through the Vignettes from a Woman's Serenade trilogy of EPs, co-produced with Pat Manske at Zone Recording Studio. Between the folk, the alt-country, and the honky-tonk, there's a fair amount of ground to cover.
