A vibrant cultural festival showcasing Korean food, music, performing arts, and traditions with vendors, K-Pop performances, and traditional demonstrations.
Korean Festival Houston returns to Discovery Green on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, for its seventeenth edition. It's a two-day celebration of Korean food, music, and culture in the heart of downtown, and it's free to attend.
The music is built around K-pop group Big Ocean, with RE:WIND opening. Beyond the headliners, there's a K-Pop Dance Competition hosted by Soundbox Dance Studios and the Korean-American Society of Houston, and a K-Showcase talent showcase. The festival also keeps a foot in tradition, with samulnori percussion, fan dance, and taekwondo performances. And there's the annual Kimchi Eating Contest, which usually draws a crowd.
K-Fest started in 2009 and has grown into one of the largest free cultural events at Discovery Green, with more than 65,000 visitors over a single weekend. The two days run across two stages—the Main Stage and the Community Stage—and the whole thing is sensory-inclusive certified through KultureCity, with a sensory activation funded by donations. Kroger is a presenting sponsor, and the City of Houston provides funding through the Houston Arts Alliance.
