King & Spalding's 2026 West U Halloween Dash and Kids' Fun Run

King & Spalding's 2026 West U Halloween Dash and Kids' Fun Run returns to the West University Recreation Center on Saturday, October 31, starting at 8 AM. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the race, which is billed as the only race in West University Place.

The morning is split into two distinct parts. The main event is a competitive 5k course—flat, fast, chip timed, and USATF certified—so if you're the kind of runner who cares about your pace and wants a verified time, this is the one to sign up for. For the younger crowd, there's a Kids Fun Run over one mile that isn't timed, making it more about the experience than the clock.

Since it's Halloween, the organizers encourage everyone to show up dressed as their favorite ghoul or goblin, so you'll likely see a mix of costumes and running gear on the course. It's a good excuse to lean into the holiday, whether you're going for a full costume or just a few festive touches.

Everything kicks off at 8 AM at the West University Recreation Center, 6104 Auden, West University Place, Houston. Between the timed 5k and the untimed Kids Fun Run, there's a spot for both the competitive side and the family side of the morning.
