Live performance by the world-renowned scratch DJ, music producer and graphic novelist Kid Koala at Warehouse Live Midtown.
Kid Koala plays Warehouse Live Midtown on Wednesday, October 14, as part of Deltron 3030. If you're not familiar with the name, he's a Montreal-based scratch DJ, producer, composer, and graphic novelist who's spent years working across a few different worlds at once. He's put out five solo albums—Music To Draw To: Satellite features Emilíana Torrini—and two graphic novels, Nufonia Must Fall and Space Cadet.
His collaborations cover a lot of ground. He's worked with Gorillaz, Deltron 3030, and The Slew, and toured with Radiohead, the Beastie Boys, Arcade Fire, A Tribe Called Quest, Mike Patton, DJ Shadow, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. He's also contributed to the scores of Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Looper, The Great Gatsby, and Baby Driver, and composed for the National Film Board of Canada, Cartoon Network, Sesame Street, and Adult Swim, as well as for runway shows by designer Dries Van Noten.
His live shows range from turntable carnivals like Short Attention Span Theater and Vinyl Vaudeville to Nufonia Must Fall, a live animated graphic novel performed with 47 puppets, a string quartet, and Kid Koala on piano, turntable, and percussion. He lives in Montreal.
