Musical Jekyll & Hyde, based on Robert Louis Stevenson's story, with pop rock hits from Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse.
Stageworks Theatre is running Jekyll & Hyde through October 11, with performances on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It's a musical based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novella, and it's been on the stage since September 18.
The story follows Dr. Henry Jekyll, whose experiment to separate the good and evil within humankind unleashes Edward Hyde, a sinister alter ego he can't control. From there, the two are locked in a deadly struggle. It's a gothic thriller that blends psychological drama, romance, and horror, and it keeps the characters straight from Stevenson's original story: Lucy Harris, Emma Carew, Gabriel John Utterson, and Sir Danvers Carew. The score is by Frank Wildhorn, with book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, and it pairs epic vocals with gripping suspense.
Behind the scenes, Cassandra Zepeda directs and choreographs, and Katie Heaton handles the musical direction. Stageworks puts on a handful of professionally supported shows each season, and they also run acting classes and kids' theatre.
