Open jazz jam session led by The Cory Wilson Quartet and The Houston Ensemble, welcoming musicians and audience to join in.
The Cory Wilson Quartet and The Houston Ensemble lead an open jazz jam at Avant Garden on Monday, October 12. It's a weekly thing here: local musicians, seasoned and new, gather for a jam in a relaxed atmosphere that keeps the performers and the audience close. The venue frames the night as more than a musical eventβa celebration of community, history, and the timeless allure of jazz, staged in an old neighborhood bar.
As an open jam, it's not just a show to watch. Musicians are welcome to join in, and the audience is encouraged to be part of the room. The Cory Wilson Quartet and the Houston Ensemble set the pace, and from there it opens up. If you play, you can get in on the music; if you don't, you can just hang out and listen.
