Three days of spooky activities with scavenger hunts and creepy crafts for the brave at the Children's Museum Houston.
Children's Museum Houston is turning into the BOOseum for Halloween, and one of the first things on the calendar is It's a Ghost!, which runs from October 15 to 17. It's three days of spooky activities—scavenger hunts and creepy crafts—put together for the brave. If you've got kids who get into the spirit of things, this is a good place to start the season.
It's part of a larger Halloween takeover that runs through October 31. The museum describes the BOOseum as a mash-up of eerie-sistible activities, fang-tastic interactives, and hair-raising science experiments, with five candy stations for Trick or Treat. The whole thing is built around the museum's usual child-centered learning, just with a Halloween twist. The museum itself has been around since 1980, housed in a building designed by architect Robert Venturi, and it's a 501(c)(3) dedicated to improving the trajectories of children in Greater Houston. It picked up the 2024 National Medal for Museum and Library Service, Good Housekeeping's 'Best Family Travel Award' four years in a row from 2023 to 2026, and was voted 'Houston's Best Museum' by the Houston Chronicle in 2023 and 2024.

If you can't make the mid-month dates, the celebration continues through the end of the month. On Halloween night, the museum stays open until 8 PM, and there's a free Family Night on Thursday, October 29. It's all at 1500 Binz St, Houston, TX 77004, and costs General Admission.
