A major trade show featuring designers, wholesalers and manufacturers of fine jewelry, gemstones and custom pieces, with direct-to-consumer shopping.
The International Gem & Jewelry Show is coming to the NRG Center in Houston from Friday, October 16, through Sunday, October 18. It's a three-day event held in Hall E, and the whole point is that you buy directly from the designers, wholesalers, and manufacturers instead of going through a retail store. If you're into jewelry, it's a good chance to see a lot of different styles in one room.
The range is pretty wide. You'll find diamonds, engagement rings, and fine jewelry alongside beads, pearls, opals, and both precious and semi-precious gemstones. There are also vintage and estate pieces, watches, and custom work, so it works whether you're looking for something specific or just want to browse. The show is run by a family company founded in 1967 by Herbert A. Duke, Sr., who started it as the first direct-to-consumer jewelry trade show in the country. He was a gemologist and an artist, and he built the show around his love for gemstones, minerals, and handcrafted art. Now over 59 years in, it's one of the longest-running jewelry shows in the U.S.
