Hernan Diaz reads from his new novel Ply at Stude Concert Hall, Rice University on Monday, October 12, at 7:30 PM. The evening is part of the 2026/2027 Inprint Margarett Root Brown Reading Series at Rice, and season tickets for the series are on sale.
Diaz will open by reading from Ply, followed by an on-stage conversation led by Maggie Galehouse, an author and former book editor for the Houston Chronicle. The night wraps up with a book sale and signing, so you can pick up a copy and get it signed afterward. If you've read his previous work, it's a good chance to hear the new material first.
For context, Diaz is the Pulitzer Prize-winning and bestselling author of the novel Trust, which Lauren Groff described as the work of a "narrative genius." Ply is his latest, and this reading is one of the ways it's being introduced to audiences.
