Poetry performance by Ignited Ink 717 poets, curated by EbonyRose, on stage at Matchbox 1.
Ignite-Her: Words. Wrath. War. comes to MATCHBOX 1 on Sunday, October 11, a poetry performance curated by EbonyRose and featuring poets from Ignited Ink 717. The evening marks an anniversary of the Ignite-Her Poetry Collection and is built around poetry, storytelling, and theatrical force. The lineup includes EbonyRose, Renee Blackwell, Skyy Danielle, and Tequila Smith.
EbonyRose, a creative publisher and nationally ranked poet who founded Ignited Ink 717, conceived the show not as entertainment but as a "warning shot" and a war cry for the poets who take the stage. The poets speak on the things the world tries to bury: domestic violence, sexual assault, stolen autonomy, and the policing of women's bodies and voices. The movement aims to amplify the voices of women pushed to the margins, and the staging is presented as the kind of healing that "howls" and "breaks glass."
