Houston Dynamo FC host in-state rivals FC Dallas in a Texas Derby on Ring of Honor Night, with a halftime presentation honoring Dynamo legend Brian Ching.
Houston Dynamo FC host FC Dallas at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday, October 17, at 7:30 PM. It's a Texas Derby, and it's also Ring of Honor Night, which gives the match something more to it than just the three points on the table.
The Ring of Honor is a new tradition the club started to recognize former players, staff, and executives who've made a real impact on the team and the city. The inaugural inductee is Brian Ching, a Dynamo legend and three-time MLS Cup winner. His presentation is scheduled for halftime, so if you're there, you'll see him honored right in the middle of the action. The night is presented by Heriberto Ramos & Associates.
As for the match itself, the rivalry runs deep. This is the 51st regular-season meeting between the two Texas sides, and the history is still very much alive. Dynamo President of Soccer and former goalkeeper Pat Onstad still holds several regular-season individual records over Dallas, a nice reminder of the club's early days. Houston also comes into this with some recent bragging rights: they won the 2025 Copa Tejas, finishing ahead of both Dallas and Austin FC, and beat Dallas 2-1 in a Torneo de Tejas preseason match.
