Houston Contemporary Dance Company and Vitacca Ballet present Unite, a one-night-only performance featuring world premieres and internationally celebrated choreography under the stars.
Houston Contemporary Dance Company and Vitacca Ballet are sharing the stage at Miller Outdoor Theatre on Friday, October 23, for a one-night-only performance called Unite. It's a joint bill that brings together two of the city's most active dance companies for a single evening under the stars, with guest appearances by Houston Contemporary 2 and Vitacca Ballet Studio Company.
The program is built around several world premieres. Houston Contemporary Dance Company presents OCTANE by Emmy Award-winning choreographer Natasha Adorlee and the Houston world premiere of Sigra Sigra by Yue Yin. Houston Contemporary 2 adds a work by Houston native Morgan Manning. Vitacca Ballet brings Ward No. 6 by Kristina Paulin, Deputy Artistic Director of the Staatsballett Karlsruhe, created in collaboration with the Skyler Campbell Dance Collective, along with a world premiere by Mariana Oliveira. Vitacca Ballet Studio Company rounds things out with a piece by Ilya Kozadayev.
Between the two companies, you'll see a fair bit of ground covered. Houston Contemporary Dance Company works to ignite passion for contemporary dance through professional repertory and community engagement accessible to all. Vitacca Ballet, led by Artistic Director Kelly Ann Vitacca, shares contemporary ballet driven by creation and a progressive ballet lens. Putting them on the same bill lets you see both styles in one go.
