Hocus Pocus

Rooftop Cinema Club is bringing Hocus Pocus to its Uptown Houston location this October, with two screenings to choose from: Wednesday, October 21, at 6:45 PM, and Saturday, October 31, at 2:00 PM. Doors open 60 minutes before the Wednesday show and 30 minutes before the Saturday one. The 1993 movie runs 95 minutes, so you're in and out in a little over an hour and a half.

If you've never seen it, Hocus Pocus follows three sister witches who are accidentally brought back to life in Salem on Halloween night after 300 years of sleep. The chaos that follows sees three kids and their new feline friend trying to put an end to the witches' reign of terror. It's a family-friendly one, and it fits right into the season.

The screening is part of Rooftop Cinema Club's 'Fright Club,' the venue's October Halloween program. They're bringing 38 movies to every Rooftop Cinema Club location, sorted by a 'Fright Club Scare-o-Meter' fear level, with a 'Fright Club Jr.' strand of family-friendly titles for the younger crowd. Hocus Pocus sits on that family-friendly side.

As for the setup, the cinema is on the fifth level of BLVD Place, 1700 Post Oak Boulevard in the Uptown/Galleria district. It's one of the venue's two-screen theaters, where two films run opposite each other, each with its own seating and audio. You watch from signature Adirondack chairs or Loveseats with wireless headphones, taking in the skyline and the sunset. The rooftop is billed as one of Houston's most Instagrammable spots, with lawn games in the lounge and complimentary self-parking in the BLVD Place garage. Evening screenings are 16+ for cinema admission and 21+ for the bar. Adirondack chairs start from $11.50, and Loveseats start from $25 per person.
