A free all-ages Halloween drumming activity where participants learn rhythm patterns and choreography on buckets, taking home decorated drumsticks.
Halloween Bucket Drumming Fun takes over the outdoor plaza in front of Houston Public Library - Downtown on Tuesday, October 13. It's a free, all-ages session presented by the library and Partnerschools, Inc., and it's built around bucket drumming.
If you've never done it, the premise is simple: you use plastic buckets as drums and drumsticks to keep the beat. During the session, you'll pick up catchy rhythm patterns and a bit of choreography on the buckets, so you're not just hitting them at random—you're playing along with everyone else. It's the kind of thing that works as well for a kid as it does for an adult, and since it's all ages, you can bring the whole family.
And there's something to take home when you're done: every participant gets their own pair of decorated drumsticks. It's a nice touch that lets you keep the rhythm going after the session wraps up.

The whole thing lasts about an hour and it's free, so you can just drop in and play. It's held outdoors in the plaza in front of the downtown library branch, right in the heart of the city.
