Halloween Bucket Drumming Fun

Halloween Bucket Drumming Fun returns to the plaza in front of the Houston Public Library Central on Wednesday, October 21, from 12 PM to 1 PM. It's a joint effort between the library and Partnerschools, Inc., and it's an annual thing they bring back to the downtown plaza each year.

Here's how it works: Partnerschools brings out more than 300 bucket drums and sticks, along with local artists to lead the way. For an hour, everyone there works through rhythm patterns and choreography together, and it all builds toward a high-energy, collaborative community performance. It's not a concert you just watch; it's something you're actually part of.

All ages are welcome, and you don't need to bring anything with you—the drums are provided on-site. Everyone also gets to take home their own pair of decorated drumsticks when the hour is up. If you've never picked up a drum before, that's fine; the whole point is that the artists lead the group through the patterns as you go.

It's free to join, and it runs from 12 PM to 1 PM on October 21 at the Houston Public Library Central (Jesse H. Jones), 500 McKinney St, Houston, TX 77002.
