A day of creepy-crawly adventures for bug enthusiasts with dissections, animal encounters, crafts and activities.
Grosstopia! takes over the Children's Museum Houston on Saturday, October 10, from 9 AM to 5 PM. It's a full day of creepy-crawly adventures for bug enthusiasts, with hands-on activities running all day long. The whole thing is built around getting up close to insects and animals, and it's open to visitors of all ages with general admission.
The day is a mix of science and craft. You can dissect an owl pellet to see what owls have been eating, meet live creepy-crawlies, and make a paper cockroach hand puppet. There's also a craft project where you weave a spooky spider web out of craft sticks and yarn, and a jelly bean challenge to join in. The sessions run out of the museum's Power Science Lab and the Kids' Hall activity tables, so you can drift between the different stations throughout the day.
It's one of several Halloween events the museum has going on right now, alongside Halloween at the BOO!seum and It's a Ghost!, so if you're planning to spend a whole day there, you can fit this in with the others. The day is sponsored by Invista.
