A market featuring bulbs, native plants, and special exhibits including a live butterfly tent and drought-tolerant plants.
The Garden Club of Houston is hosting its Bulb and Plant Mart at The Church of St. John the Divine on Thursday, October 8. It's a free event, so you can just drop in and browse without worrying about a ticket.
The club stocks the mart with top-quality bulbs sourced from growers across the United States and abroad. You'll find amaryllis, tulips, daffodils, and irises, alongside rare native plant collections grown from seed to support local bees, butterflies, and birds. There's also a selection of drought-tolerant plants, which is a practical addition for anyone gardening in Houston's heat.
Beyond the plants, there's a live butterfly tent from the Cockrell Butterfly Center, so you can see them up close while you're there. The whole thing doubles as a resource for local ecosystem restoration and gardening education, so it's as much about learning how to help your own patch of the city as it is about taking home something new for your yard.
