A free beginner-friendly drop-in collage workshop for families at FotoFest, with refreshments and reception afterward.
FotoFest is hosting a free beginner-friendly collage workshop at Silver Street Studios this Saturday, October 10, from 11 AM to 2 PM. It's part of FotoFun Family Day, the festival's family-friendly day of programming, and it's run by the FotoFest Learning Program. That program has spent more than thirty years bringing photography-based art and writing projects to thousands of students across Greater Houston, with a Literacy Through Photography curriculum and education projects aimed at strengthening literacy and encouraging agency.
The workshop sits inside FotoFinish 2026: Amass. Move. Reflect., Houston's annual student exhibition, which runs from October 1 to November 14. In the show, students document their lived experiences through guided photographic and collage techniques, pairing their visual explorations with love letters to Houston, observations on the significance of play, and other reflections on the human experience. The workshop is a drop-in session, so you don't need to commit to the full three hours—you can just swing by when it works for you.
