A family-friendly community event with treats, games, a costume contest and a balloon artist.
Houston's First Baptist Church is hosting its Fall Fest at the Downtown Campus on Friday, October 30, from 6 PM to 8:30 PM. It's a free community event, so you can just show up with the kids and hang out for the evening. The whole thing is built around the basics of a neighborhood fall party: candy, games, and a few activities to keep the little ones busy while you catch up with other parents.
On the treat side, they'll have candy, popcorn, and cotton candy. There's a family-friendly costume contest, too—they ask for no scary costumes, so keep it light and kid-appropriate. Between the treats and the contest, there are plenty of games and activities to cycle through, and a balloon artist on hand to make things for the kids. It's the kind of low-stakes evening where you can let the children run around while you stay close by.
Fall Fest is part of the church's broader children's and family programming, and it's designed as a church-centered way for Houston families to spend a bit of the season together. If you're looking for something to do with the kids the night before Halloween that doesn't involve a ticket or a reservation, this fits the bill. The church keeps the family events going after this one, too: they're hosting 'Fall Family Fun' at their main Loop Campus on the Katy Freeway on Saturday, November 7, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM—another outing geared toward families.
