Concert by the American sludge metal band Eyehategod, with support from The Burden, Luicidal, Evil Army and Blast! at Bad Astronaut Brewing Co.
Eyehategod play Bad Astronaut Brewing Co. on Monday, October 19, with The Burden, Luicidal, Evil Army and Blast! opening the night. It's a full bill, so you'll be in there well before the headliner takes the stage.
If you're not familiar, Eyehategod are a sludge metal band from New Orleans, known for dark, slow-burning riffs and lyrics that match them in tone. They pull from stoner and doom metal and hardcore punk, with the Melvins, Black Flag and Black Sabbath listed as influences. The sound is heavy and deliberate, and it's a good idea to know that before you walk in.
There's a bit of a story behind the band's history. Drummer Jimmy Bower also played in Down, and the other four members formed the side-project Outlaw Order, which put out the 7" EP Legalize Crime in 2003. The criminal theme came from the fact that all five members were on probation when the band formed. Marc Shultz, who used to be on drums, is currently serving a prison sentence and has been replaced by Justin Grisoli. The current lineup is Gary Mader on bass, Aaron Hill on drums, Mike IX Williams on vocals, Brian Patton on guitar and Jimmy Bower on guitar.
