Austin-based emo and pop punk revival cover band bringing nostalgia and energy to BFE Rock Club.
EMOcean Avenue plays BFE Rock Club on Saturday, October 10, bringing an Austin-based take on the emo and pop punk revival to Houston. They're an all-ages show, so you can bring whoever you want.
The band frames the night as a celebration of the emo era, harking back to their own Warped Tour days. They play around 40 songs pulled from an iPod shuffle, mixing the best music from that period with newer songs and classic bangers. There's no DJ on the night, and the set is built around the artists who shaped the scene: Boys Like Girls, Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, New Found Glory, Hello Goodbye, Paramore, and Yellowcard. With that many bands in one set, you're likely to hear a good stretch of the era's biggest names in a single night.
Coming from Austin, EMOcean Avenue plays in the revival, emo, and pop punk styles and bills the show as a way to keep emo alive. The set is backed by strong lights and production, and because it's all ages, it works for anyone who grew up with these bands or is just getting into them now.
