Concert by the extreme metal band Dying Fetus, with support from Crowbar, Sanguisugabogg and Left to Suffer at the House of Blues.
Dying Fetus play the House of Blues on Saturday, October 17, with Crowbar, Sanguisugabogg, and Left to Suffer on the bill. It's a heavy night for Houston, with four bands on one stage.
Dying Fetus started in Baltimore, Maryland, co-founded by guitarist and vocalist John Gallagher. They built their name on mixing extreme metal instrumentation with heavy hardcore chugginess, a sound that drew from the New York slam scene of Agnostic Front and Madball, and even from Rage Against The Machine. Decibel Magazine put their third album, Destroy the Opposition (2000), into its Hall of Fame alongside Metallica and Slayer. Their 2009 record Descend into Depravity is cited as a tech-metal masterpiece, and "Second Skin," from 2012's Reign Supreme, ended up in an episode of South Park.
In 2014, a fan-driven hashtag campaign earned them a mainstage spot at the UK's Download Festival, where they played before Bring Me The Horizon, Fall Out Boy, and Linkin Park. That same energy carries over to this lineup, which brings together Crowbar, Sanguisugabogg, and Left to Suffer to open for them.
