A family craft workshop where participants decorate pumpkins using pressed flowers and leaves.
Houston Botanic Garden is hosting DIY Botanical Pumpkins on Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. It's a family craft workshop where you decorate pumpkins with pressed flowers and leaves, so it's more of a botanical take on the usual October tradition than a carving session. If you've got kids, it's a good way to get them into the season without the mess of pumpkin guts all over the kitchen table.
The Garden sits on 132 acres just a short distance from downtown Houston. It opened the first phase of a 30-year master plan in fall 2020, and since then it's become a major addition to the city's cultural landscape and its growing list of greenspaces. Its mission is to enrich lives through discovery, education, and the conservation of plants and the natural environment, and it runs educational programs and workshops for all ages covering horticulture and gardening, arts and culture, nature and conservation, and health and wellness. This session falls under its Youth & Family category.
