A family-friendly festival of lights with Indian fashion, food, hands-on activities and a Ramayana performance.
Asia Society Texas Center is hosting Diwali Lights! on Sunday, October 18, from 2 PM to 6 PM. It's their free celebration of Diwali, one of the most cherished holidays in India and beyond, built around the theme of light triumphing over darkness and community coming together in unity.
Most of the day is hands-on. There are Bollywood dance workshops, carrom, a Diwali photo booth, diya painting, henna, Ramayana finger puppets, and rangoli. Local vendors will be there too, and there's a cafe on the main floor if you need a break. The theatrical and dance performances run alongside everything else, so you can watch a show and then go back to the activities.
It's a family-friendly afternoon, and the Asia Society Texas Center is known for its broader programming in arts, business, culture, education, and policy, rooted in the educational and cultural development of the community and in the power of art, dialogue, and ideas to celebrate the vibrant diversity of Asia and Asian American experiences.
