A semi-scripted, fully live murder mystery dinner show where guests solve a crime while dining, with a criminal lurking in the room.
The Dinner Detective is playing at the Marriott Houston West Loop Galleria on Saturday, October 10, as part of a run of murder mystery dinner shows through the end of the year. It's a semi-scripted, fully live experience that's been running since 2004 and now operates in more than 100 cities across North America.
If you've done a murder mystery before, this one works a bit differently. There are no period costumes, no stage, and no settings in the Old West or on Pirate Island. The story is set in the present day and unfolds in real time, with performers dressed just like the guests. A crime happens right in front of the audience, and the killer is hidden in plain sight among the room, so any guest can become a suspect. Improv drives the evening, and the whole thing runs about two and a half hours.
The Houston show is geared toward adults, with some mild content, loud noises, and adult humor. There's a strict age limit of 15, and the dress code is business casual. Your ticket includes a multi-course plated dinner, wait staff gratuity, and a prize package for the Top Sleuth.
